Lee Rammelt

“You make my words sound great.”

As a copy writer / translator I explore the world in words. Taking responsibility and communicating clear core values are a blessing, not a burden. Whatever your personal mission or professional ambition is, chances are you have something to say. I have worked on subjects ranging from Dutch Design and Russian Icons to the expats guide for local council elections or antique party tents.

After graduating from Gymnasium Celeanum in Zwolle, I moved to London.  During my BA (Hons) degree in Fashion Promotion at the London College of Fashion, I also worked for Vivienne Westwood and Tommy Hilfiger, while writing for Het Parool, the Amsterdam based Dutch newspaper.

After a brief stint as a freelance fashion journalist on my return to the Netherlands,  academic pursuit followed at the University of Amsterdam. Specialised in the representation of cultural identities – and I aced my philosophy grad module (and temporarily hijacked our class after the lecturer told me to teach two sessions).

At the Amsterdam bakery, De Taart van m’n Tante, I mastered the art of cake design and decoration, immersed in the world of chocolate, marzipan and edible glitter.

After roles as project manager at the Stijlinstituut Amsterdam and photography producer at Solar consecutively, freelance writing followed. Clients include national press, design studios and cultural institutions.

In 2007 I became involved with the New York Gypsy Film festival, an annual event dedicated to the human rights issues concerning the world’s Roma and Travellers population. From 2008 to 2011 I volunteered for the Dutch charity organisation Care Foundation, working with orphan children and small Romany communities in Transylvania, Romania.

I now divide my time between the Netherlands and Romania,  as a writer/researcher and as the founder of the private label AER LIBER
